Open Rate is the ratio of the total number of unique people who opened an email and the total number of emails actually delivered. Let us assume that we sent 100 email newsletters and 20 of them bounced. This means that 80 emails were actually delivered to recipient inboxes. We will also assume that recipients opened 20 of the emails delivered. In this case, the average open rate is 25% (ratio of 20 and 80). But how do we know if recipients opened our emails?
